Anagram Solver

Enter a word or a jumble of letters to find every word that uses all of them.

How the anagram solver works

We compare the letters you type with every word of the same length in our list and keep the ones that use exactly the same letters. Because it only looks at letter counts, order doesn't matter: TINSEL,SILENT and ELINST all give the same answers. Below the full anagrams you'll also see the longest shorter words you can make, which helps when a puzzle doesn't need every letter.

Big anagram families

These sets of everyday words are all anagrams of each other — every word uses exactly the same letters:

Where anagrams come up

  • Crosswords and cryptic clues — an "anagram indicator" (mixed, broken, confused…) tells you to rearrange nearby letters.
  • Jumble and word-scramble puzzles — one exact anagram is the answer.
  • Scrabble-style games — using all seven tiles in one play earns a big bonus, so it pays to check whether your whole rack is an anagram of a word.
  • Names and pen names — writers and puzzle-makers love hiding one name inside another.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an anagram and an unscramble?

An anagram uses every letter exactly once (LISTEN → SILENT). Unscrambling finds any word you can make from some or all of the letters. This page shows full anagrams first, then the best shorter words.

Can it find multi-word anagrams?

Not yet — it finds single words. For phrase anagrams, try splitting your letters: find a long word here, then run the leftover letters again.

Can I use blanks?

Yes. Add ? for an unknown letter, for example CRA?E finds CRANE, CRATE, GRACE and more.

Why do some words look greyed out?

Those are valid but rare words. Everyday words are listed first in full colour.
