How to use the Crossplay helper

Crossplay letter values
Crossplay uses its own tile values. Letters marked ★ are worth a different amount than in the classic crossword-tile set (B, G, H, J, K, L, U, V, W). The bag holds 100 tiles, including 3 blanks worth 0.
| Letter | Points | Tiles | Letter | Points | Tiles |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | 1 | 9 | N | 1 | 5 |
| B ★ | 4 | 2 | O | 1 | 8 |
| C | 3 | 2 | P | 3 | 2 |
| D | 2 | 4 | Q | 10 | 1 |
| E | 1 | 12 | R | 1 | 6 |
| F | 4 | 2 | S | 1 | 5 |
| G ★ | 4 | 3 | T | 1 | 6 |
| H ★ | 3 | 3 | U ★ | 2 | 3 |
| I | 1 | 8 | V ★ | 6 | 2 |

What's different from other tile games
- Three blanks instead of two, so big plays come up more often.
- A 40-point sweep for using all 7 tiles in one turn — this helper flags those words.
- J is worth 10, and K and V are worth 6 — worth saving for a letter or word bonus square.
- L and U are worth 2, so even "cheap" words score a little more.
Tips for bigger scores
- Put your heaviest tile on a 3L square and, if you can, make two words at once with it.
- Hold a blank for a sweep. A blank plus common letters (E, R, S, T, A, I, N) often completes a 7-letter word.
- Learn the short, heavy words. Two- and three-letter words with J, Q, X or Z are how strong players score in tight spots.
- Check both directions. A word that hooks onto an existing one scores both words.
Frequently asked questions
Does this use the same word list as the game?
Close, but not identical. We search a large open English word list and put everyday words first. A few rare words may be accepted by one and not the other, so if the game rejects a word, try the next one down.
Why is the score in the game higher than the one shown here?
We show the face value of the tiles (blanks count as 0). The game then adds bonus squares — 2L, 3L, 2W, 3W — and the sweep bonus, so the same word can score far more on the right square.
Can it read my whole board?
Not yet. For now, enter your rack plus any board letters you want to build through using Starts with, Ends with or Contains.
Is using a helper fair?
Against the computer or to learn new words, go for it. Against a friend, agree on it first — most people use helpers to review a finished game and spot the moves they missed.
