How to use the Pips solver
- Set the size to the board’s rows and columns, then tap Squares and tap every square that’s part of the board.
- Add each coloured region. Pick its rule (a number, =, ≠, less than or more than), choose Regions mode and tap its squares.
- Type the dominoes from the tray, like
3-3 0-4 6-1. - Press Solve and open the hints one at a time, or jump straight to the answer.
How the solver works
It always fills the square with the fewest free neighbours first — often there’s only one domino that can fit — and after every placement it checks each region against the pips still left on unused dominoes. That rules out dead ends early, so even Hard boards usually solve in well under a second, right in your browser.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to enter a board?
Usually 2–3 minutes: tap the squares, paint each coloured region and give it its rule, then type the dominoes (for example 6-6 1-3 0-5).
It says “no solution” — what now?
Something doesn’t match the real board. Check that every region has the right rule and number, and that the domino list is complete — the count under the dominoes box must match the squares.
Can there be more than one answer?
Occasionally. The solver checks, and tells you when a board has more than one valid arrangement.
