This policy explains what information HintNook ("we", "us") collects when you use the website at hintnook.com (the "site"), how it is used, and the choices you have. The site is run by Tajbiul Rawol, based in Australia. Questions? Email hello@hintnook.com.
The short version
- You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name or email to use any tool.
- The letters and clues you type never leave your device. All solving happens in your browser.
- The site is free because it shows ads. Our advertising partner, Google, may use cookies to show and measure those ads.
Information we collect
What you type into the tools
Our word lists are downloaded to your browser and every search runs locally. We do not receive, log or store the letters, words or puzzle clues you enter. If you share a results link, the letters are part of that link's address, so anyone you send it to can see them.
Technical data
Like every website, our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested in order to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse.
Visitor statistics
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. We use these aggregate numbers to see which tools are popular and what to improve.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we keep your message and address only as long as needed to reply and follow up.
Cookies and advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies (and similar technologies) to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and to other websites. Google's advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. They are also used to limit how often you see an ad and to measure how ads perform.
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services:policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- You can turn off personalised advertising from Google inGoogle's Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors ataboutads.info (US) oryouronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you'll be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, through a consent message provided by Google. You can change your choice at any time using the privacy link that appears on the site. If you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The tools keep working without them.
Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the Australian Privacy Principles, the EU/UK GDPR or US state privacy laws such as the CCPA), you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to object to certain uses. Because we don't collect personal information through the tools, most requests will concern advertising cookies — which you control with the links above — or emails you've sent us. Contact us at hello@hintnook.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Links to other sites
We may link to other websites. We're not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
