How to use the Letter Boxed solver
- Type the three letters on each side into the matching box (Top, Right, Bottom, Left). The cursor jumps to the next side for you.
- Press Solve. Solutions using the fewest words, then the most common words, appear first.
- Tap a word to copy it. Open All valid words to browse without spoilers.
The rules
- Every word must be at least three letters long.
- Consecutive letters can't come from the same side of the box — so no double letters like LL.
- Each new word starts with the last letter of the previous word.
- You win when all 12 letters have been used; fewer words is better.
How the solver finds two-word answers
First it keeps only words that follow the side rule for your box. Each word is then turned into a 12-bit fingerprint of which letters it covers. Two words are a solution when the second starts with the last letter of the first and their fingerprints together cover all 12 letters. Checking fingerprints is so fast that the solver can test every possible pair in a fraction of a second — and if no pair works, it moves on to three-word chains.
Tips for solving it yourself
- Place the awkward letters first. Q, J, X, Z and V have few partners; build your first word around them.
- Think about the joint. Words ending in common starting letters (S, T, C, P) make the second word easier.
- Go long early. One long word that zig-zags between sides often leaves an easy finisher.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the game reject a word from the list?
The official puzzle uses its own dictionary, which is stricter about rare words. Solutions made from everyday words are listed first; if one is rejected, try the next one down.
What if there is no two-word solution?
The solver automatically searches for three-word chains when no two-word answer exists with the words it knows.
Does the order of the sides matter?
Only which letters share a side matters — you can enter the four sides in any order.
Can I see all the words without the solution?
Yes. Open All valid words under the results to browse every playable word without looking at the solutions.
