Word list
Our 274,081-word list is the Letterpress word list by Loren Brichter, dedicated to the public domain under CC0 1.0, as packaged in the word-list npm package by Sindre Sorhus (MIT licence), which removes common profanity. We remove a further set of slurs.Package licence.
Word frequency levels
The commonness rating attached to each word comes from SCOWL (Spell Checker Oriented Word Lists) by Kevin Atkinson, via the wordlist-english npm package (MIT). SCOWL's licence requires the following notice, reproduced in full in SCOWL-Copyright.txt:
