Wordle Solver

Enter the clues from your guesses. We list every word that still fits — best next guesses first.

Green — right letter, right spot
Yellow — in the word, but not in this spot

A box can hold several letters, e.g. RS if both were yellow there on different guesses.

How to use the Wordle solver

  1. Type each green letter into the box for its position.
  2. Type each yellow letter into the box where it was yellow — that tells the solver it's in the word but not there.
  3. Type every gray letter into the gray field.
  4. Press Find words. After each new guess, add the new clues and search again.

How we rank the next guess

Every possible answer is listed, but the order matters. We count how many of the remaining words contain each letter you haven't placed yet, then score each candidate by the letters it would test. A high-scoring guess splits the remaining words roughly in half, so you learn the most from it. Common words come before rare ones because daily-puzzle answers are nearly always everyday words.

Three habits that save guesses

  • Don't reuse gray letters. Every guess should test new letters until you're down to a few words.
  • Move yellow letters. A yellow letter can't go back in the same spot — try it somewhere new.
  • Watch for doubles. Words like SPELL, GEESE and LLAMA catch people out when few candidates are left.

Frequently asked questions

How do I enter a letter that showed up twice?

Put each green letter in its own box. If a letter came back green and gray in the same guess (for example, the second E in SPEED), leave it in green and ignore the gray — the solver handles repeated letters cautiously so it never removes the real answer.

Why are some suggestions words I would never guess?

The list shows every word that fits your clues. Common words are listed first because Wordle-style answers are almost always everyday words; rarer words sit at the end.

Does this work for other five-letter games?

Yes — any game with the same green / yellow / gray feedback works, including Wordle clones and unlimited modes.

Is using a solver cheating?

That is up to you! Many people use it after a few guesses to learn which words were possible, or only for the first hint. Try entering your clues and just reading the count of remaining words.
